How you recognise it
Fine celestial linework — orbits, phases, radiant divisions — arranged with strict symmetry in gold on a deep purple or near-black ground.
The diagnostic condition is diagrammatic symmetry: the marks are laid out as though they chart something, which is what separates the register from generic dark ornament.
Gothic Horror treats darkness as weather and atmosphere. Heavy Metal treats it as allegiance, with the logo as the artefact.
